Wired Road Warrior.

I'll be on the road again for about two weeks. In my travels, I've gained a certain amount of fame (or notoriety) for finding good places to eat. I've also gained some fame (or notoriety) for introducing my colleagues to some basic web-sites to find gyms, laundromats, ATMs, etcetera...

My basic resources:

Places to eat
http://www.chowhound.com - you can do an advanced GOOGLE search on the chowhound.com domain for fast, effective relief of your specific cravings or hunger pains.
http://www.vegdining.com/Home.cfm - when I need my dietary fiber

General Reference (food, shopping, services)
http://local.google.com/local
http://www.citysearch.com/
Google Earth is also AWESOME - but the IT folks at my agency have banned us from using the free-application. Just another reason why I bang my head against the cubicle wall at work.

Alternative News Weeklies
In Austin there was the Chronicle, in Portland we have the Willamette Weekly, in Kansas City you've got The PITCH. These publications tend to have good websites with restaurant reviews and finding local services.

What plane to catch - indispensible to traveling Federal employees

What I listen to in hotel rooms (if not my iPOD):

Winamp - Great media player to download. Check out the ShoutCast radio station listings for the following stations...
  • somafm - http://somafm.com/ - Groove Salad, Secret Agent, Beat Blender are my favourite channels when I want to hear some electronic dancey-trancey chillout music.
  • radio paradise - My usual choice for eclectic rock and roll.
  • wxpn -home of World Cafe and their Album of the Week helps me stay au courant on who is buzz-worthy.
Hilton Alarm Clocks - I've got a TON of points with Marriott but these Hilton alarm clocks with an auxiliary jack for my iPOD may sway my hotel loyalties.
